  • ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Tuesday vowed not to let China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) become controversial like ‘Kalabagh Dam’.

“Economic Corridor holds great significance and it is a brainchild of JUI,” claimed the Maulana while addressing a gathering at a programme here.

He said how is it even possible that ‘we would think against the interests of the country’, adding there are some forces within the country that raise slogans for progress of another country.

The JUI-F Chief stressed that if backward parts of the country were taken along, their deprivations would be removed while terrorism would also witness decline.

He said Pakistan is not a developing country but a backward one. “Here people don’t even have clean drinking water, despite presence of major water resources,” he noted.
