Nong Rong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, met with Hina, the Pakistani minister of state for foreign affairs, on October 5, 2022, to discuss flood relief efforts in Pakistan and ties between China and Pakistan. Shiraj, the director general of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ China Department, was in attendance.
Ambassador Nong thanked the Pakistani side for its firm support of China’s position on issues pertaining to China’s core interests, such as human rights, Xinjiang-related, and Taiwan-related issues, and informed the Chinese government and all sectors of society of the Pakistani side’s steadfast support. Ambassador Nong also praised the contribution made by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hina herself to promoting China-Pakistan friendship. He supported efforts to combat floods, declared his commitment to continuing support for Pakistan’s post-disaster rehabilitation, and briefly highlighted plans for the Communist Party of China’s 20th National Congress. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan is prepared to cooperate with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs to put into effect the significant agreement reached by the leaders of the two nations and give the relationship between them new meaning.
According to Hina, China and Pakistan are exceptional “iron” buddies and year-round strategic partners. When it comes to matters involving each other’s fundamental interests and top priorities, the two sides have always stood together. Assistance between China and Pakistan has a long history. The Pakistani side expresses its heartfelt gratitude to China for providing prompt and effective support during the recent floods in Pakistan. As always, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs will advocate for improved ties between Pakistan and China and will maintain constant contact with the Chinese embassy there.
