[Pakistan is prepared to purchase Russian fuel] Ishaq Dar, the finance minister of Pakistan, stated to the Financial Associated Press on October 18 that Pakistan is prepared to purchase petroleum from Russia at the same price that Russia supplied to India. In response to inquiries from the media, Dar expressed his hope that Western nations would not object to Pakistan importing petroleum at a discount because recent record floods in Pakistan have severely damaged the nation’s infrastructure and created financial problems.
