PM’s Visit to China concludes on positive joint Communique

Joint Communique issued for upgradation of CPEC and cooperation in different areas of mutual interest

Following the completion of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China, a joint communique was issued between the two brotherly countries here on June 08, 2024.

As per details, both China and Pakistan agreed to upgrade phase-2 of CPEC and both the sides signed 23 agreements and MOUs covering cooperation on CPEC, agriculture, infrastructure, industrial cooperation, inter-governmental development assistance, market regulation, surveying and mapping, media, film.

Major breakthrough was also held between Pakistan and China for the upgradation of ML-1, Karakoram Highway (Raikot-Thakot) realignment, upgradation of the inspection infrastructure of the Khunjerab-Sost pass, Gwadar port infrastructure .

Pakistan and China have said in a joint statement issued at the end of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s five-day visit to China that the two sides are committed to working together to maintain regional peace, stability, development and prosperity. And agreed to accelerate the building of a community of Pakistan and China with a shared future in the new era.

According to the joint declaration, Pakistan-China defense cooperation is important for strategic balance in the region. China says that the solution of the Kashmir issue is necessary according to the resolutions of the United Nations.

Both the sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and security.
