The Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project, with an estimated cost of about Rs 307 billion, was awarded on Wednesday by the National Highway Council, the highest authority of the National Highway Authority (NHA).

Asad Mahmood, the federal minister for communications and postal services, presided over the group’s meeting on Wednesday in this location.

According to Mahmood, the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) is a six-lane megaproject that will be finished in 30 months in accordance with international standards. He claimed that the current administration has satisfied a long-standing desire of the Sindhi people to build the M-6 highway.

Mahmood stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working to establish a strong infrastructure for national economic growth. The present administration’s major priority in this area is the building and enlarging of national roads and motorways.

He said that it is encouraged for the private sector to become involved in building road infrastructure. He said that the public-private partnership (PPP) initiative to build the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) will show to be a groundbreaking and exemplary PPP.

He said that the districts through which the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project will traverse will enter a new era of economic and social growth.

The federal minister commended Captain Muhammad Khurram Agha (ret.), Chairman of the NHA and Federal Secretary of Communications, as well as the NHA’s construction specialists, for seeing the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project through to its completion.

The Federal Secretary of Communications and Chairman of the National Highway Authority, Captain Muhammad Khurram Agha (ret. ), stated during a briefing on this occasion that the 306 km motorway would have 15 interchanges, one major bridge over the Indus River, 19 overpass bridges, 82 bridges over canals, and six flyovers.

According to him, the Sukkur-Hyderabad Freeway (M-6) project is the remaining piece of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM) that has to be built in order to connect Peshawar and Karachi via motorway.

He said that this freeway will also be accompanied by a 61-kilometre service road. He informed them that the cost of the highway will exceed Rs 307 billion. The maximum speed limit on this highway will be 130 km/h, and service stations and rest places will be spaced every 50 km on each side of the highway.

The NHA chairman informed the gathering that this motorway will travel through the districts of Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Matiari, Benazirabad, Nowshehro Feroze, Khairpur, and Sukkur, which will result in economic and social growth there as well as the creation of new livelihood prospects.
