The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has initiated a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign to promote digital payments during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival. The campaign, launched on May 20, 2025, will run until June 6, 2025, or Eid night, aiming to encourage the use of digital financial services in 54 designated cattle markets across the country.
In collaboration with the banking industry, the SBP’s initiative seeks to streamline the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals by facilitating digital transactions for various services, including the purchase of livestock, water, animal feed, and parking fees. This move is part of the SBP’s broader goal to foster digital financial inclusion throughout Pakistan.
To support both merchants and buyers during this period, the SBP has temporarily increased transaction limits from May 19 to June 15, 2025. For Branchless Banking Level-1 Accounts, Asaan Accounts/Asaan Digital Accounts, and Merchant Accounts, daily transaction limits have been removed, and the monthly limit has been raised to PKR 5,000,000.
The SBP encourages the public to take advantage of these convenient and secure digital financial services during Eid-ul-Azha, contributing to a more efficient and inclusive financial ecosystem in Pakistan.
