Web Desk; President Asif Ali Zardari today traveled from Chengdu to Mianyang aboard a high-speed train, completing the 121-kilometer journey in approximately 30 minutes. During the trip, he received briefings on the train’s operations, services, safety systems, and environmental benefits.

Officials highlighted that China now operates the world’s largest high-speed rail network, spanning over 45,000 kilometers of dedicated track and carrying more than two billion passengers annually. With trains reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h, the network connects nearly all major Chinese cities. China has developed a standardized, dedicated passenger system that serves as a model of modern connectivity.

President Zardari lauded China’s achievements in sustainable and resilient transport, including pollution-free electric propulsion and earthquake early-warning technologies, calling them a marvel of railway engineering. He emphasized that these innovations offer valuable lessons for other countries, including Pakistan.

The President was accompanied by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Khalil Hashmi; Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jiang Zaidong, who is accompanying him throughout his visit; and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla. Upon arrival, President Zardari was received by Mr. Wu Hao, Vice Mayor of Mianyang.
