Chinese President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conducted an inspection tour of Luoyang City in Henan Province on May 19, 2025. During the visit, President Xi emphasized the dual priorities of advancing industrial modernization and safeguarding cultural heritage while engaging with local workers, officials, and tourists.
At Luoyang Bearing Group Co., Ltd., a key manufacturing enterprise, President Xi reviewed initiatives to accelerate the growth of advanced manufacturing technologies. He interacted with employees to discuss progress in innovation and industrial upgrades, stating, “The high-quality development of manufacturing is pivotal to our national strategy. Enterprises must continue pioneering breakthroughs to strengthen China’s competitive edge.”
Xi later visited the White Horse Temple, one of China’s oldest Buddhist temples, where he assessed efforts to enhance the preservation and utilization of historical sites. “Cultural heritage is the root of our national identity. Protecting these treasures while fostering sustainable tourism ensures they remain a source of pride for future generations,” he remarked.
The inspection concluded at the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where President Xi examined measures to integrate cultural legacy with tourism development. He exchanged views with tourists and underscored the need to “harmonize economic growth with cultural vitality,” adding that “tourism should serve as a bridge connecting history, culture, and modern development.”
The visit highlighted President Xi’s focus on balancing technological advancement with cultural stewardship, reinforcing the Party’s commitment to comprehensive, high-quality development across economic and social spheres.
