Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called on the international community to ensure the prompt and steady delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza. He made these remarks during a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi
Discussing the situation in the Middle East, particularly the dire circumstances in Gaza, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that the upcoming UN Conference on the Two-State Solution, scheduled for next month, would yield significant outcomes.
PM Shehbaz also conveyed his profound gratitude to President Al-Sisi for Egypt’s constructive role, balanced statements, and proactive diplomacy during the recent crisis in South Asia, which helped defuse tensions between Pakistan and India. He paid tribute to the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan for courageously defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to upholding the ceasefire understanding with India in the interest of regional peace.
Highlighting concerns over the Indus Waters Treaty, the Prime Minister drew attention to India’s threats to hold the treaty in abeyance, stating that such a move would constitute a red line for Pakistan.
Expressing satisfaction with Pakistan-Egypt relations, PM Shehbaz underscored the need to enhance bilateral trade and investment. President Al-Sisi welcomed the ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for durable peace and stability in South Asia.
President Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s desire for stronger ties with Pakistan across all spheres and acknowledged Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to Gaza. The Prime Minister extended a cordial invitation to President Al-Sisi for an official visit to Pakistan, which was graciously accepted.
