ISLAMABAD (MNN); Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday held an important meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad, reaffirming that ensuring maximum security for Chinese nationals and projects remains Pakistan’s highest priority.

According to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, the meeting took place at the ministry where Naqvi briefed the Chinese envoy on the overall security situation, particularly in Balochistan, following recent terrorist attacks that disrupted normal life in the province.

The Chinese ambassador strongly condemned the attacks targeting civilians and security forces in Balochistan and expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the affected families. He said China stood in complete solidarity with the victims and reaffirmed Beijing’s firm support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.

Interior Minister Naqvi informed the envoy that the violence in Balochistan was carried out under an organised and premeditated plan, adding that Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and effectively. He also briefed the ambassador on the security measures in place for the protection of Chinese citizens and ongoing projects.

He said no hostile force could weaken Pakistan-China friendship and stressed that safeguarding Chinese nationals was of paramount importance. Naqvi added that a special protection unit was being established for Chinese nationals and that modern Chinese technology and equipment would support coordinated counter-terrorism operations.

The interior minister also shared details of his recent visit to China, describing it as successful. Both sides discussed counter-terrorism, internal security and security cooperation, and agreed to enhance collaboration in intelligence sharing and cybercrime prevention.

The Chinese ambassador appreciated the security arrangements for Chinese nationals, while Naqvi thanked China for its consistent support and solidarity with Pakistan.
