Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, where both leaders reaffirmed the enduring “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between Pakistan and China.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, agriculture, and industrial development. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and agreed to advance its second phase, emphasizing industrialization and socio-economic development.
In light of recent regional tensions, particularly the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, Wang Yi welcomed efforts by both nations to resolve differences through dialogue. He reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of regional peace and stability.
Additionally, the two leaders participated in a trilateral meeting with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The three countries agreed to extend the CPEC into Afghanistan, aiming to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration. They also discussed strengthening diplomatic ties and combating terrorism collectively.
