Govt plans to upgrade railway tracks under CPEC

Islamabad: The government has planned laying and up-gradation of railway tracks under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Under the plan, new railway tracks would be laid from Gwadar to Quetta and Jacobabad via Besima. Five hundred and sixty kilometres track would be laid from Bostan to Kotla Jam on Main Line-II via Zhob and Dera Islamil Khan. In addition, six hundred and eighty two kilometers new track would also be laid from Havelian to Khunjrab.

According to the plan, up-gradation of 1872 kilometre railway track from Karachi to Peshawar via Kotri, Multan Lahore and Rawalpindi including Taxila-Havelian with doubling of track from Shahdara to Peshawar would also be carried out.

One thousand two hundred and fifty-four kilometre railway track from Kotri to Attock city via Dadu-Larkana-Jacobabad-Dera Ghazi Khan-Bhakkar-Kundian would also be upgraded.
