Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated fact-checking forum to counter misinformation, particularly related to the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Addressing the 9th CPEC Media Forum, the minister said that the spread of misinformation poses serious challenges and can undermine public understanding of major national projects. He stressed that an effective and credible fact-checking mechanism is essential to ensure accurate information and responsible reporting.

Attaullah Tarar described CPEC as a game-changer and a key driver of Pakistan’s economic development, noting that numerous development projects have been launched under the initiative. He added that CPEC 2.0 represents an important milestone in further strengthening Pakistan’s economy and regional connectivity. The minister reaffirmed that Pakistan–China relations are historic, time-tested, and based on mutual trust, describing the two countries as “iron brothers.” He said strong and effective relations exist between Pakistan and China at all levels, and both nations take pride in this unique friendship.

Highlighting the evolving media landscape, Attaullah Tarar said digital media played a significant role in recent regional developments, underscoring the growing influence of online platforms. He added that the government has established Pakistan’s first Digital Communication Department and launched Digital Pakistan Television to effectively project Pakistan’s narrative and national position at the global level. The minister also noted that cultural ties between Pakistan and China are deepening, with people from both countries increasingly learning each other’s languages, further strengthening people-to-people connectivity.
