In a move to empower young women with job-ready training, Pakistan and China signed an agreement on May 18 to set up a new digital learning center in Lahore. The center, called Ban-Mo Academy, will be established at the Government College of Technology for Women, Lytton Road, and will offer practical job training in areas like e-commerce and digital tools. The project supports the Digital Pakistan vision and aims to boost employment opportunities for women in today’s digital economy.

The agreement was signed online between Shandong College of Electronic Technology (China), Lancmall (SMC-Private) Ltd., Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), ITMC Technology Company, and the host college in Lahore. Chinese officials also joined the virtual signing ceremony.

The new center will offer short courses and advanced programs that focus on online selling and digital work. It will also help train local instructors and promote cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese institutions.

Officials say the project will give young women the practical skills they need to find jobs or start small businesses, both locally and globally. The effort is part of broader plans to prepare youth for modern careers and support Pakistan’s growing digital workforce.

Officials say this initiative supports Pakistan’s national strategy to expand access to digital skills and create new opportunities for youth in the growing online economy.
