ISLAMABAD; The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan organized a symposium and photo exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The event was attended by H.E. Jiang Zaidong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, and H.E. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, both of whom delivered keynote addresses. Representatives from the Pakistani government, political parties, think tanks, and media were also present. The symposium was co-moderated by Mr. Wang Shengjie, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, and Mr. Mustafa Hyder Sayed, Executive Director of the Pakistan-China Institute.

Ambassador Jiang highlighted that China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression made a historic contribution to the global triumph over fascism. He noted that the Communist Party of China (CPC) led the nationwide resistance effort and played a decisive role in securing victory. Jiang warned that the post-war international order now faces serious challenges and stressed that, as key members of the Global South, China and Pakistan must work together to safeguard the outcomes of WWII, promote genuine multilateralism, and defend the interests of developing nations.

Deputy Speaker Shah praised the Chinese military and people for their immense sacrifices to defend peace in Asia and beyond, acknowledging the CPC’s irreplaceable role in the war. He reaffirmed that Pakistan stands firmly with China against unilateralism and hegemonism, supporting a path of peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Also addressing the gathering were Gen (R) Zubair Hayat, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and Mr. Murtaza Solangi, journalist and former Federal Caretaker Minister for Information and Parliamentary Affairs.
