BEIJING: Wang Yi held talks with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi in Beijing on Wednesday, where China called for an immediate and full ceasefire while opposing any renewed escalation in the region.
During the meeting, Wang Yi stressed that dialogue and negotiations should remain the top priority in addressing the Iran situation. He reiterated China’s position in favor of diplomatic solutions and de-escalation efforts.
The Chinese foreign minister also appreciated Iran’s stated commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, while affirming Tehran’s legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Wang further noted that China supports regional countries in building a cooperative security framework based on shared participation, mutual interests, and collective development, emphasizing the need for long-term stability and peace.
