ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday to discuss the latest regional developments, with Beijing expressing full support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate engagement between the United States and Iran.
According to the Foreign Office, Ambassador Jiang conveyed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s continued efforts in promoting dialogue between Washington and Tehran, describing such diplomatic initiatives as essential for maintaining lasting peace and regional stability.
The development comes as Pakistan prepares to host another round of negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching a possible peace agreement, following the two-week temporary ceasefire that is set to expire on April 21.
Reaffirming the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, Dar highlighted the long-standing strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges to further strengthen mutual strategic interests and deepen cooperation across key sectors.
Earlier, Dar also held a conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the evolving regional situation.
Both sides emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement for peace and stability and agreed to remain in close contact over ongoing developments.
