BEIJING: China hopes to use the upcoming visit of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as an opportunity to deepen strategic communication, strengthen longstanding friendship, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expand collaboration across various sectors, enhance coordination on multilateral issues, and further elevate the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Guo made the remarks while responding to questions regarding Tarique’s scheduled visit to China from June 24 to 26. The trip comes at the invitation of Premier of the State Council Li Qiang.
Guo noted that the visit will be Tarique’s first trip to China since taking office. During his stay, Chinese leaders will meet with the Bangladeshi prime minister for discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of shared interest, with the aim of guiding future development of ties between the two countries.
In addition, Tarique is expected to participate in the Summer Davos forum, officially known as the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum, which will be held in Dalian, Liaoning Province.
Guo highlighted that China and Bangladesh enjoy a longstanding friendship and maintain a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. He said that under the guidance of the two countries’ leaders, bilateral relations have continued to advance in recent years, marked by stronger political trust and productive cooperation that has brought tangible benefits to both peoples.
