Islamabad (Monitoring Desk) The first train of the “Zheng He” Sea-Road-Rail International Multimodal Transport Service departed on Friday from Tengjun International Land Port in Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province. This marks a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity and trade under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The train will travel along the China-Laos Railway to reach Vientiane, the capital of Laos. From there, the cargo will continue to Thailand, Singapore, and Bangladesh via three additional transport routes, combining rail, road, and sea networks.
The launch of this service is expected to streamline logistics, reduce transportation time, and strengthen trade ties between China and Southeast Asia, as well as South Asia. Officials noted that the new multimodal route would not only boost economic integration across the region but also offer more stable and efficient supply chain options for businesses.
