## Pakistani Culinary Traditions Highlighted at Nanjing’s Multicultural Dragon Boat Festival
A vibrant display of cultural exchange unfolded at a Dragon Boat Festival celebration in Nanjing, where Pakistani students prominently featured their nation’s rich culinary heritage. The local community-organized event united international students from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, Cameroon, and Nigeria with Chinese students and residents, fostering friendship through shared food, crafts, and festive activities.
Seven talented Pakistani students participated, with three taking the lead in preparing beloved dishes. Haider Alam, a student at Nanjing University of Technology, cooked a fragrant Chicken Masala Curry. Khan Kashif and Zaid, students from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, served crisp, golden samosas. Both dishes garnered significant appreciation from attendees.
Reflecting on the cultural symbolism, Khan Kashif observed, “Both are delicious packages holding special meanings – samosas contain spiced potatoes, zongzi contain sweet rice, but both contain cultural pride.” He added, “It was amazing to see people from different countries enjoying our food and asking about Pakistani culture. Through our dishes, we wanted to give everyone a taste of Pakistan’s warmth and hospitality.”
