Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday extended congratulations to Louise Arbour on assuming office as Canada’s governor general, expressing his hope for the continued development of relations between the two countries.
In his congratulatory message, Xi said that stable and healthy China-Canada relations serve the interests of both nations and contribute to global peace, stability, development and prosperity.
The Chinese president noted that he attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties and expressed readiness to work with Governor General Arbour to advance the China-Canada strategic partnership.
Xi said both sides should promote relations along a sound, stable and sustainable path guided by the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, while seeking common ground and managing differences.
He added that strengthening cooperation and dialogue between the two countries would help deliver greater benefits to the peoples of China and Canada.
