Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged efforts to achieve new progress in the high-quality development of China’s service sector.
Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction delivered at a national conference on the service sector held in Beijing from Tuesday to Wednesday.
He noted that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, China’s service sector has grown steadily in scale while improving in quality and efficiency. According to Xi, the sector has played a key role in advancing industrial transformation, meeting people’s livelihood needs, and generating employment opportunities.
Emphasizing a development approach driven by demand, reform, technological innovation, and greater openness, Xi called for further efforts to expand capacity and enhance quality within the sector.
Efforts must be made to advance producer services toward greater specialization and the higher end of the value chain, foster high-quality, diverse and accessible consumer services, and build more “China Services” brands, he said.
