(Global Times): Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto took to the social platform to express gratitude for China’s strong support for Venezuela’s sovereignty over its territory and natural resources.

In his post, Gil shared a video featuring Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responding to questions about recent U.S. pressure on Venezuela’s energy sector. In the video, Mao emphasized that Venezuela is a sovereign nation with full and permanent authority over its natural resources and economic activities. He also criticized the U.S.’s use of force and its demand that Caracas “favor” the United States regarding its oil reserves, calling such conduct a violation of international law and Venezuelan sovereignty.

Mao stressed that the legitimate rights and interests of China and other countries in Venezuela must be upheld. Gil’s message thanked China for condemning what Venezuela considers serious infringements on international law and for standing with the Venezuelan people in defending their sovereign rights over their land and resources. He reiterated the Maduro government’s appreciation for China’s defense of international law and Venezuela’s full sovereignty.
