**ISLAMABAD, Dec. 5 (Gwadar Pro) — The University of Peshawar has received Rs. 4 million from the Embassy of China in Islamabad under the annual Chinese Ambassador Scholarships program.

The cheque was handed over on Thursday to Dr. Noor Sanauddin, Director of the China Study Center (CSC). Data shared with Gwadar Pro shows that, since 2018, the University of Peshawar has received a total of Rs. 34.9 million from the Chinese Embassy through the CSC. This support includes Rs. 2 million worth of equipment in 2018, Rs. 2 million in scholarships in 2019, Rs. 7 million in 2020, and Rs. 23.9 million disbursed under the Ambassador Scholarship program between 2021 and 2025.

Annual allocations under the program include Rs. 5.4 million in 2021, Rs. 4.5 million in 2022, Rs. 6 million in 2023, Rs. 4 million in 2024, and another Rs. 4 million in 2025.“We have received Rs. 4 million from the Embassy of China for deserving students of the University of Peshawar,” Dr. Sanauddin told Gwadar Pro after the handover ceremony. He said the current year’s scholarships will primarily support financially disadvantaged students struggling to pay their tuition fees, while a portion will be reserved for high-achieving and research-driven students.“I plan to allocate some scholarships purely on merit for exceptionally bright students with strong GPAs,” he said.

“We are also encouraging research in areas related to Sino-Pak relations, including CPEC and the Belt and Road Initiative, and scholarships will be offered to students pursuing such work.”Dr. Sanauddin lauded the Embassy’s consistent support. “This scholarship program significantly enhances people-to-people relations between China and Pakistan,” he noted.

“It strengthens an already deep friendship.”He added that the University of Peshawar is fortunate to have a fully functional China Study Center supported by such initiatives.

Each year, 70 to 100 students benefit from the program. “We truly appreciate the generosity and goodwill of the Chinese Embassy and the Ambassador,” he said.
