BEIJING: US President Donald Trump, who is on a three-day state visit to China, held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday morning, according to Xinhua News Agency.
During the meeting, Trump repeatedly referred to Xi as a “great leader,” Xinhua reported.
He also pointed to the high-level American business delegation accompanying him, describing their visit as a sign of respect toward China and its leadership. “They look forward to trade and doing business,” Trump said, according to Xinhua.
“There are those who say this is maybe the biggest summit ever,” Trump added.
“It’s an honor to be your friend and the relationship between China and the USA is going to be better than ever before,” he said, as reported by Xinhua.
