ISLAMABAD: H.E. Amb. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, met Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended his warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also reflected on his recent visit to China, describing his engagements with the Chinese leadership as highly productive and substantive.
Reaffirming his commitment to further strengthening the Pakistan-China All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of promptly implementing the key decisions reached during his visit to China.
He underscored the need to broaden collaboration under CPEC 2.0, particularly in agriculture, information technology, industry, including Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and the mines and minerals sector.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of ensuring timely implementation of the various memorandums of understanding signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during the B2B Investment Conference held in Hangzhou.
Appreciating Ambassador Jiang’s efforts in facilitating a successful visit, the Prime Minister noted that both countries must now work closely to translate the leadership’s decisions into tangible outcomes.
The discussions also covered the acceleration of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) realignment project, enhanced cooperation in security, counter-terrorism and defence, as well as economic and financial assistance. Regional and international developments also came under review.
Amb. Jiang Zaidong thanked the Prime Minister for the meeting and congratulated him on Eid ul Adha and the successful visit to China from May 23 to 26. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening its iron-clad friendship with Pakistan and expanding cooperation across all sectors.
