ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to undertake a three-day official visit to China beginning May 23, according to remarks by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as reported by Pakistani media Dawn.
Speaking at a ceremony, Dar highlighted that Pakistan and China are entering “another significant step towards innovation, digital connectivity and the economy of the future as our partnership enters a new phase in the digital age.”
He further emphasized that Pakistan-China relations are “not ordinary diplomacy,” describing them as a relationship “tested by time and strengthened by trust […] from the Karakoram Highway, carved through some of the most difficult terrain in the world, to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which transformed Pakistan’s energy and connectivity landscape.”
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari also visited China from April 25 to May 1, with stops in Hunan and Hainan provinces, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian previously noted that 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, adding that bilateral ties continue to maintain strong momentum. He also said China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan and promote deeper exchanges to build “an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.”
