MACAO, (Xinhua): A spectacular float parade and the first of three Chinese New Year drone-enhanced fireworks displays illuminated Macao on Thursday, marking the third day of the Year of the Horse and drawing large crowds of residents and tourists into the festive atmosphere.
Around 1,300 performers from Macao, Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Portugal, Spain and Italy participated in the celebration, accompanied by 17 elaborately decorated floats, according to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) tourism office.
The annual float parade has become one of Macao’s hallmark holiday events, highlighting the city’s hospitality and dynamic cultural spirit. Tai Kin Ip, secretary for economy and finance of the Macao SAR government, said the event reflects Macao’s unique charm and festive vibrancy.
Among the international performers was Jorge Ramos from Portugal, who presented a traditional dance from his hometown with fellow team members. “We bring our culture and our soul,” he said, noting that the local performances appeared both exotic and beautiful to them. “Watching them perform was inspiring,” he added.
Following the parade, the night sky above the waters near Macao Tower lit up with a dazzling display of fireworks and coordinated drone formations. The show blended pyrotechnics, music and laser effects, creating auspicious images such as blooming flowers, a dancing lion and a galloping horse in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
