Chinese cardiologist Pan Xiangbin has been awarded the Sitara-i-Pakistan in recognition of his contributions to medical assistance in Pakistan.
The award was presented on Sunday by Asif Ali Zardari in Changsha, the capital of central Chinaās Hunan Province.
Pan, who serves as vice president of Fuwai Hospital under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, along with his team, provided intensive training to around 200 local medical personnel in Pakistan in 2025 under a bilateral assistance project focused on congenital heart disease (CHD).
The initiative marked the first-ever China-Pakistan technical cooperation in CHD treatment.
President Zardariās visit to China, scheduled from April 25 to May 1, includes stops in Hunan Province and Hainan Province, according to Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.
