Global Times: China will take necessary measures to safeguard its own energy security, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Tuesday, in response to a reporter’s question that some analysts and officials in Asia claimed that US actions in Venezuela and Iran could impact China’s oil supply and weaken China’s diplomatic partners.

Mao stated that China firmly opposes the use of force in international relations to infringe upon other countries’ energy security. Energy security is very important to the world economy. All parties should ensure stable and unimpeded energy supply, Mao said.

Addressing another question raised by the reporter regarding China’s action in safeguarding its territorial integrity, including on the Taiwan question, Mao stated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The Taiwan question is China’s internal affairs and how to resolve it is a matter up to the Chinese people.
