China’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday that the government reviews and makes decisions regarding foreign investment in accordance with laws and regulations, responding to questions about the recent decision to prohibit foreign acquisition of the Manus project.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing.
According to reports, China’s National Development and Reform Commission announced on Monday that the office of the foreign investment security review working mechanism had, in line with laws and regulations, decided to block foreign investment in the Manus acquisition project.
The authorities also ordered the parties involved to revoke the acquisition deal.
