BEIJING: China on Thursday voiced opposition to a U.S. Federal Communications Commission proposal that would prohibit Chinese laboratories from testing electronic devices intended for use in the United States.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the move represents an overextension of the concept of national security and would significantly disrupt normal economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and U.S. companies.
She added that the proposal runs counter to the interests of all parties involved, including American businesses and consumers.
China will continue to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, she said.
