BEIJING: China has been closely following developments concerning Aung San Suu Kyi, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Lin Jian noted that Aung San Suu Kyi is a long-standing friend of China and that the country has consistently kept track of her situation.

Lin added that as a friendly neighbor, China supports Myanmar in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions. He emphasized that China is ready to work with all parties in Myanmar to promote broader, more stable, and sustainable peace and reconciliation.
