More than 200 representatives from 16 countries, including China, Germany, Canada and Thailand, gathered in Dali, Yunnan Province, on Saturday for a forum dedicated to advancing global ecological civilization and strengthening international cooperation on environmental governance.
The event was jointly organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, and the China Public Relations Association.
Addressing the forum, Chang Bo, head of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, emphasized that advancing ecological civilization through innovation and international collaboration requires leveraging technological progress, sharing governance experiences and improving communication on green development concepts.
Phinij Jarusombat, chairman of the Thai-Chinese Cultural & Relationship Council, noted that China has gained significant expertise in ecological governance, poverty reduction, rural revitalization and the development of new energy industries. He expressed hope that Thailand and China would further strengthen exchanges, promote people-to-people ties and deepen practical cooperation.
China has continued to make notable progress in ecological conservation. According to this year’s government work report, the country is now the world’s leading contributor to forest resource growth and has built the largest and fastest-expanding renewable energy system globally.
Speaking at the forum, Zhang Huaping, an official with China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said China will continue its efforts in pollution prevention and control, accelerate its green and low-carbon transition, mobilize broad public participation, and deepen its engagement in global environmental and climate governance.
