Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday exchanged congratulatory messages to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.
Xi noted that Egypt was the first Arab and African nation to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China.
He said that over the past seven decades, the two countries have consistently maintained mutual respect, equality, trust and support for one another despite changes in the international and regional environment.
According to Xi, China-Egypt relations have evolved into an example of friendship, solidarity and cooperation among developing nations, while also serving as a model for cooperation between China and Arab countries and between China and African nations. He said the partnership has continued to advance toward building a China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era.
Highlighting the status of both countries as ancient civilizations and key members of the Global South, Xi said China and Egypt should draw on historical experience and work together to fulfill the shared goals of promoting peace, development, cooperation and justice, thereby contributing momentum to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Xi said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations and stands ready to work together with Sisi to take the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties as a new starting point, carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and push for the growth of China-Egypt relations featuring greater strategic guidance, stronger synergy for development and broader international influence, so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples and make greater contributions to peace and development in the region and beyond.
