Global Times: The Chinese side is deeply shocked by this incident, and demands that the Japanese side immediately conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, severely punish individual involved, and give China a responsible account of the matter, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday, in response to media inquiry over a self-claimed serving officer of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan on Tuesday.

According to Lin, on the morning of March 24, a lawbreaker who claimed to be a serving officer of the JSDF climbed over the wall and forcibly broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan. The individual admitted that his actions were illegal and threatened to kill Chinese diplomatic personnel “in the name of God.”

“The Chinese side is deeply shocked by this incident and has lodged solemn representations and a strong protest with the Japanese side,” Lin said, “This incident constitutes a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, severely threats the personal safety of Chinese diplomatic personnel and the security of diplomatic premises, and is extremely egregious in nature and impact.”

The spokesperson stressed that the latest incident once again reflects the rampant presence of extreme right-wing ideology and forces in Japan, as well as the growing dangers of “neo-militarism.”

It also exposes the profound and far-reaching negative effects of the Japanese government’s erroneous policies on issues of major core concern in China-Japan relations, such as history and Taiwan question. The Japanese side has failed in its management and education of JSDF personnel and has not fulfilled its responsibility to provide security protection for Chinese diplomatic and consular missions and their personnel in Japan, Lin said.

The Chinese side demands that the Japanese side immediately conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, severely punish individual involved, and give China a responsible account of the matter, Lin said, “The Japanese side must effectively ensure the safety of the premises and personnel of Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in Japan, reflect upon and correct its mistakes in its policy toward China, and take fundamental measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.”

The international community should maintain a high degree of vigilance against the dangerous trend of accelerating rightward drift within Japan and the lax management and control accompanying the JSDF’ military expansion, Lin added.
