BEIJING, (Xinhua) — China has urged Japan to refrain from challenging international justice and the global order with what it described as dangerous nuclear ambitions, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
Spokesman Guo Jiakun made the remarks in response to comments by a senior Japanese official suggesting that Japan should possess nuclear weapons. Guo said such statements reflect the growing ambitions of right-wing conservative forces in Japan to revive militarism, break away from the post-war international order, and accelerate the country’s remilitarization. He stressed that Japan’s nuclear rhetoric tests the international community’s bottom line and raises serious concerns among its neighbors and the wider world.
