The US government has extended 178 tariff exclusions for Chinese industrial and medical products under the “Section 301” investigation for nearly another year, the Office of the US Trade Representative announced on Wednesday (local time).

The exemptions, previously set to expire on November 29, 2025, will now remain in effect until November 10, 2026. The renewed exclusions cover 14 product categories linked to solar panel manufacturing equipment, along with 164 items spanning various industrial and medical sectors — including electric motors, blood pressure monitoring devices, pump components, auto air compressors, and printed circuit boards, according to a Reuters report.

The decision comes after China and the United States reached a trade and economic understanding earlier this month. China’s Ministry of Commerce has previously criticized the US “Section 301” measures, saying they politicize normal trade matters and represent political manipulation. The WTO has also ruled that the “Section 301” tariffs violate global trade rules.—
