ISLAMABAD; Pakistan and China held high-level consultations in Beijing, engaging in a wide-ranging discussion on global and regional peace, security, arms control, non-proliferation, and disarmament.

Both sides reviewed the security environment in South Asia, with particular focus on challenges to strategic stability, while also exchanging views on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and peaceful uses of nuclear and space technologies.

A Foreign Office statement said the dialogue was co-chaired by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Additional Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sun Xiaobo, Director General of the Department of Arms Control at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks also covered key multilateral disarmament forums, including the UN General Assembly First Committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and international conventions such as the BTWC and CWC.

During the visit, Ambassador Andrabi also joined an interactive roundtable at the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA), which brought together former diplomats, practitioners, academics, and think-tank experts.

The consultations, held as part of the 10th round of the Pakistan-China Dialogue on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament, are regarded as a central pillar of the two countries’ strategic engagement. The next round of talks will take place in Islamabad in 2026.
