RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed that the longstanding military partnership between Pakistan and China continues to play a critical role in promoting regional stability and safeguarding shared strategic interests.
He made these remarks during a ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Friday to mark the 98th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who served as chief guest. Also present were Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, other senior officials from the Chinese Embassy, and top military officers from Pakistan’s tri-services.
Welcoming the Chinese guests, Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated the PLA on nearly a century of contributions to China’s defence and national development. He praised the PLA’s evolving role in ensuring China’s security and strengthening its global presence.
The army chief highlighted the depth and resilience of Pakistan-China relations, describing the bond as unique, time-tested, and firmly rooted in mutual trust and shared strategic vision. He emphasized that despite changing regional and global dynamics, the friendship between the two nations has remained solid and unwavering.
He further reiterated that the armed forces of both countries are true brothers-in-arms, united by a commitment to regional peace and cooperative security. The enduring defence collaboration, he noted, will continue to underpin efforts to tackle emerging challenges and ensure mutual prosperity.
In his address, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed sincere gratitude to the Pakistan Army for hosting the commemorative event. He acknowledged the role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in counterterrorism and reaffirmed China’s consistent and firm support for its strategic partnership with Pakistan.
The ceremony served as a reminder of the strong and growing military cooperation between the two countries, anchored in shared objectives for stability, development, and regional harmony.
