## China, Bangladesh, Pakistan Advance Trilateral Partnership at Kunming Dialogue

Senior officials from China, Bangladesh, and Pakistan convened in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, for extensive discussions on enhancing trilateral cooperation. The meeting featured Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Bangladeshi Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, and Pakistani Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) Imran Ahmed Siddiqui. Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch participated in the initial phase via video link.

Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong articulated China’s dedication to fostering a community with a shared future among neighboring nations. “The Chinese government is committed to building a community with a shared future with neighboring countries,” Sun stated. He emphasized that both Bangladesh and Pakistan are “good neighbors, good friends, and good partners of China,” as well as vital collaborators in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

The three nations, acknowledged as significant members of the Global South and pivotal regional actors, share objectives centered on national revitalization, modernization, and the necessity of a peaceful, stable environment. Cooperation among China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh was affirmed to align with the common interests of their peoples and to bolster regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

The parties concurred on advancing trilateral cooperation grounded in the principles of good-neighborliness, equality, mutual trust, openness, inclusiveness, common development, and win-win cooperation. The primary focus of the China-Bangladesh-Pakistan partnership will be promoting economic growth and enhancing livelihoods. Specific areas identified for collaborative exploration and project implementation include industry, trade, maritime affairs, water resources, climate change, agriculture, human resources, think tanks, health, education, culture, and youth engagement. A dedicated working group will be established to follow up and execute the understandings achieved during the meeting.

The three sides underscored that their cooperation adheres strictly to true multilateralism and open regionalism, explicitly affirming it is “not directed at any third party.”

During his time in Kunming, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong also held a separate meeting with Mr. Haji Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the interim government of Afghanistan, and conducted bilateral talks with Mr. Ruhul Alam Siddique and Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.
