Senior Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced a landmark agreement with Chinese investors to develop a cutting-edge Super Mini Truck assembly facility in Karachi, signaling a significant leap in bilateral industrial and technological collaboration. The announcement was made during the vehicle’s inaugural unveiling ceremony in Bozhou, China, where Memon emphasized the project’s potential to drive economic growth and innovation.

“The establishment of this assembly plant underscores our commitment to fostering industrial progress and creating opportunities for businesses and individuals alike,” stated Memon. He further revealed that plans are underway to deploy a network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Sindh to support sustainable mobility initiatives.

The Super Mini Truck, co-developed by China’s Chery Holding Group and Peddy Technology Company Limited, represents a breakthrough in versatile transportation design. Engineered for adaptability, the vehicle can seamlessly transform into a compact car, offering a dual-purpose solution for urban and rural logistics. Memon hailed the innovation as a “testament to the synergy between Pakistani and Chinese engineering,” adding that it exemplifies shared goals in technological advancement and economic prosperity.

“This vehicle is not only cost-effective and eco-friendly but also addresses critical transportation challenges through intelligent design and environmental compatibility,” Memon remarked. “It is poised to meet Pakistan’s rising demand for efficient light commercial vehicles while promoting localized manufacturing, job creation, and skill development.”

The Karachi-based assembly plant is projected to catalyze domestic auto parts production, accelerate technology transfer, and position the city as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing. Memon affirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to providing comprehensive regulatory support, infrastructure upgrades, and workforce training programs to ensure the project’s success.

“This initiative is a decisive stride toward redefining Karachi’s industrial landscape and strengthening Pakistan-China economic ties,” he concluded.
