Chinese and Pakistani firms have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop 150 megawatts of wind energy projects, Gwadar Pro reported Tuesday. The agreement was signed between Pakistan’s Reon Energy Ltd. and China’s SANY Renewable Energy Ltd., marking a strategic partnership to boost renewable energy deployment in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors of Pakistan.

Reon Energy described the collaboration as a milestone in expanding access to sustainable power solutions in the country. ā€œThis marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration to advance renewable energy solutions in Pakistan,ā€ the company said in a statement.

Under the MoU, both companies will jointly work on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects with an initial goal of 150 MWs of wind energy. The agreement reflects the growing demand for Chinese wind power technology among Pakistani private sector firms.

In 2024, major Pakistani companies such as Lucky Cement, Yunus Textile Mills, and Liberty Mills installed wind power plants using turbines manufactured by China’s Goldwind. These installations were carried out by Pakistan’s Orient Energy Systems, which already has a deal in place with Goldwind for the provision of 150 MWs worth of turbines.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s interest in Chinese solar energy technology is also accelerating. Two significant solar agreements were recently signed. On April 24, China’s Huasun entered an exclusive distribution partnership with Pakistan’s Bahum Associates to deliver 500 MWs of heterojunction solar modules.

A day later, on April 25, Orient Energy Systems announced an agreement to install a 7 MW solar power plant for Servis Long March (SLM) Tires, a China-Pakistan joint venture. This follows a previous 2 MW solar plant installation at the same facility.
