ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has announced that the Pakistan–China Agri Investment Conference, held on January 19, 2026, led to the signing of 79 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese firms, with a total estimated investment of $4.5 billion in agriculture and related sectors.

Speaking to the media, according to an official statement, the minister said the scale of the agreements signalled a clear shift from dialogue to investment-driven cooperation. He noted that the conference was structured to deliver concrete, project-based outcomes rather than general discussions. The minister explained that the event prioritised business-to-business matchmaking, focused sectoral engagement and targeted investment facilitation. This approach, he said, enabled companies from both countries to finalise agreements in line with market demand and technological requirements.

Hussain added that the Ministry of National Food Security and Research undertook extensive preparatory work ahead of the conference, including detailed consultations with Pakistani industry stakeholders and Chinese enterprises. The objective was to ensure alignment between proposed projects, national priorities, market needs and existing technology gaps.
