ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed the longstanding Pakistan-China “iron brother” relationship during a meeting at the Prime Minister House on Monday, reviewing bilateral cooperation, regional developments and progress on key agreements between the two countries.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and recalled his visit to China in May.
The prime minister said both countries would continue working closely to implement the important decisions and agreements reached by their leadership for the mutual benefit of their people.
The two sides also discussed regional developments, including the situations in the Middle East, Afghanistan and South Asia. They underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination on matters related to regional peace, stability and development.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, reflecting the significance both countries attach to expanding cooperation across political, economic and strategic sectors.
Ambassador Jiang thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for the meeting and reaffirmed that China considers Pakistan an “iron brother.”
He said China would continue supporting Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity while expanding cooperation to advance the country’s socio-economic development.
The ambassador also reiterated China’s commitment to further strengthening the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations.
