ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership as senior officials gathered at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar addressed the ceremony, reaffirming the enduring Pakistan-China friendship, describing bilateral relations as an “all-weather strategic partnership” and an “iron-clad brotherhood” built on mutual trust, respect and cooperation.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening strategic cooperation with China and advancing the shared vision of prosperity and regional stability.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, addressing diplomats, ministers, political leaders and members of the Chinese community, said the CPC had transformed China into one of the world’s leading economies over the past 105 years under the leadership of Xi Jinping.
Referring to President Xi’s speech delivered earlier in Beijing, the ambassador said China would continue pursuing high-quality development, deepen reforms, and advance Chinese modernization while contributing to global peace and development.
Jiang described China as “an anchor of stability in a turbulent world” and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative.
Highlighting the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said the project has attracted more than $25.9 billion in direct investment, created over 260,000 jobs, added 8,000 megawatts of power generation capacity, and significantly improved Pakistan’s transport and energy infrastructure.
He said CPEC remained a “vivid embodiment” of the China-Pakistan community with a shared future and pledged to accelerate work on an upgraded version of CPEC 2.0.
The ambassador also emphasized the CPC’s focus on governance and party building, saying Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building provides guidance for China’s development while offering valuable experience for political parties around the world.
Congratulating Pakistan on its recent economic progress, Jiang noted that the country’s economy grew by 3.7% in fiscal year 2026, reaching a record $452 billion, while per capita income increased to $1,901.
He also praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, describing the initiative as a constructive contribution to regional peace and stability.
Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, the envoy said Beijing was ready to work closely with Pakistan to implement the consensus reached between President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping, deepen cooperation under CPEC 2.0, and further strengthen the China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Jiang expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between China and Pakistan would continue to grow stronger and benefit future generations.
