BEIJING: China has expressed deep concern over the latest escalation of tensions in the Middle East and called on all relevant parties to work toward restoring peace and stability in the region.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning commented on the recent exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran.
Mao said the renewed conflict benefits no one and urged all parties to seize the opportunity for peace by honoring ceasefire commitments and maintaining the momentum of dialogue and negotiations.
She emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through political and diplomatic channels, stressing that efforts should be directed toward achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible.
Mao added that such steps are essential for creating the conditions necessary to restore peace and tranquility across the Middle East and the Gulf region.
