China and Mongolia on Saturday launched a joint army training exercise, codenamed “Steppe Partner 2026,” in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The exercise is centered on operations against illegal armed groups and is designed to strengthen bilateral friendship and mutual trust, expand practical military cooperation, and enhance the ability of both countries to contribute to regional peace and stability.
As part of the training, the two sides will establish a joint command system and carry out drills involving joint command and coordinated strike operations under simulated combat conditions.
More than 600 military personnel from both countries participated in the opening ceremony on Saturday. The exercise marks the second installment in the joint training series between the Chinese and Mongolian armies.
