During the recent visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to China, both sides held constructive discussions on artificial intelligence and agreed to establish an official intergovernmental dialogue mechanism on AI, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing on Tuesday that the two leaders exchanged views on AI development and governance during their talks.
He noted that, as two major global players in the field of artificial intelligence, China and the United States should cooperate more closely to advance AI innovation and improve global governance frameworks. The goal, he said, is to ensure AI contributes positively to human progress and shared international well-being.
Beijing emphasized that strengthening communication on AI policy between the two governments is important for managing risks and supporting the responsible development of the technology.
