ISLAMABAD: Adnan Arif has been appointed as a member of the Central Standing Committee on Media Broadcasting of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for the year 2026. The official notification was issued on May 4, while FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh formally presented the appointment notification to him.

The appointment will enable Adnan Arif to play a role at the national level in matters related to media, broadcasting affairs, public engagement and policy consultation. During the upcoming term, he is expected to contribute to discussions concerning media challenges, broadcasting policies and institutional coordination through the committee platform.

Adnan Arif is the Editor-in-Chief of “The Public Purview” and is known for his professional contribution to national, social and public affairs journalism. His inclusion in the committee is also being viewed as a reflection of growing representation of independent media at national forums.

The FPCCI Central Standing Committee on Media Broadcasting is considered an important platform comprising journalists, broadcasting professionals and media representatives from across the country. The committee aims to strengthen coordination between the business community and the media sector while promoting policy-level consultation.

The committee will work on recommendations related to media development, public communication, institutional collaboration and structural issues facing Pakistan’s broadcasting sector. The forum is also expected to enhance cooperation and effective communication among businesses, policymakers and media institutions.

The committee is being headed by Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of “Pakistan Observer,” who is serving as Convener, while the notification was formally endorsed by Additional Secretary General Amjad Qureshi.

The committee formed for 2026 also includes prominent figures associated with national and regional media organizations from across the country, including Sarmad Ali, Naveed Kashif, Rafay Khan Niazi, Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Pir Haroon Shah, Mohsin Mumtaz Seyal, Waseem Ahmed and Muhammad Humayun Gulzar. Business and public engagement professional Afnan Mashal has also been included in the committee.

Observers believe the appointment will further strengthen the representation of independent media at the national level and support effective communication between the business sector, policymakers and the public.
